Timmins issues extreme cold alert for Dec. 3; overnight wind chill -34

The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, with overnight wind chill expected to reach -34. The notice was posted on the municipal website at 9:50 a.m. People who need emergency shelter can attend 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance.

Exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia.

The city advises residents to reduce risk by avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin. The alert specifies the temperature figure includes wind chill and refers to overnight conditions. The city did not specify when the alert will end.
