Timmins issues extreme cold alert for Jan. 23, saying wind chill could reach -41 overnight

The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, saying wind chill values could reach as low as -41 overnight.

The city said exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes even life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia.

The city advised people to avoid wind exposure, dress in warm layers and cover exposed skin.

People requiring emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance, the city said.
