Timmins issues extreme cold alert for March 13; overnight low -22 C with wind chill

The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Friday, March 13, 2026, with the temperature expected to drop to -22 C overnight, including wind chill.

The alert matters for residents who may be outdoors overnight or early in the morning, and for anyone who may need to plan for warming up, travel, or checking on people at higher risk from cold exposure.

In its advisory, the city warned that exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia.

The city advised people to avoid wind exposure, dress in warm layers and cover exposed skin.

People needing emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. in Timmins for assistance, the city said.
