Timmins issues extreme cold weather alert for Feb. 18; overnight low expected to reach -21 with wind chill

An extreme cold weather alert has been issued in Timmins for Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, with temperatures expected to drop to -21 overnight, inclusive of wind chill. People requiring emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance.

The City of Timmins warned that exposure to extreme cold temperatures can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia.

According to the city’s alert, protection from extreme cold conditions includes avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin.

The city also directed residents to its Cold Weather Response Plan for additional information.
