Timmins issues extreme cold weather alert for Feb. 24, 2026

The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, saying temperatures are expected to range between -20 and -25 this evening and overnight, inclusive of wind chill.

The city said exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia. It also advised residents to avoid wind exposure, dress in warm layers, and cover exposed skin.

The city said people requiring emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance.
