The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Wednesday, March 11, 2026, with temperatures expected to drop to -22 overnight, including wind chill.

The city warned that exposure to extreme cold can cause frostbite and hypothermia and may be life-threatening.

People requiring emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance.

The city advised residents to avoid wind exposure, dress in warm layers, and cover exposed skin to protect against the cold.
