The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Saturday, March 14, 2026, warning that the temperature is expected to drop to -25 overnight, inclusive of wind chill.

The city said exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia, and it listed steps residents can take to reduce the risk.

People requiring emergency shelter can attend the location at 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance.

The city said protection from extreme cold conditions includes avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin.

The alert was posted at 9:04 a.m., according to the city’s notice.
