Timmins issues extreme cold weather alert for March 15; temperature expected to drop to -21 overnight

The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Sunday, March 15, 2026, warning the temperature is expected to drop to -21 overnight, including wind chill.

In its alert, the city said exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes even life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia.

The city said protection from extreme cold conditions includes avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin.

People requiring emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance, according to the city.

The alert was posted at 9:16 a.m., the city said.
