Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Monday, March 16, 2026, with temperatures expected to drop to -35 overnight, including wind chill.

The city’s alert includes information about health risks from extreme cold and points residents who need emergency shelter to a specific location in the city.

People needing emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance.

The City of Timmins warned that exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia.

The alert also advised avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers and covering exposed skin.

The notice was posted on the City of Timmins website at 1:24 p.m. on March 16.
