Timmins issues extreme cold weather alert for March 27, 2026; overnight low expected to reach -24 C including wind chill

An extreme cold weather alert is in effect in Timmins for Friday, March 27, 2026, with the temperature expected to drop to -24 C overnight, including wind chill.

The City of Timmins said exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia. The alert also includes information about protective measures and where to go for emergency shelter.

According to the city’s notice, protection from extreme cold conditions includes avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin.

The city said people requiring emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. in Timmins for assistance.
