Timmins issues extreme cold weather alert for March 4, with -28 expected overnight including wind chill
The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Wednesday, March 4, warning that overnight conditions are expected to reach -28 including wind chill.
The city said extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia, and urged residents to take precautions and seek shelter if needed.
People who require emergency shelter can go to 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance, the city said.
The city advised residents to protect themselves from the cold by avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin.
The alert was posted on the City of Timmins website at 9:08 a.m. on March 4.
