Timmins maintenance on Cameron Street North March 4 may cause temporary water pressure loss and discoloured water

Timmins homeowners and businesses on Cameron Street North between Pearl Avenue and the end of the road may see a short-term loss in water pressure or brown or rust-coloured tap water on March 4, 2026, as the City of Timmins carries out scheduled water infrastructure maintenance from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The city said the disruption is expected to be temporary and limited to that stretch of Cameron Street North, but it could affect regular water use during the four-hour work window.

According to the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department, residents in the affected area should not drink discoloured water or use it for laundry.

The department said discoloured water is not harmful to health, but it can stain laundry.

If water turns brown or rust-coloured, the city advises turning off the tap for 10 to 20 minutes to allow crews to finish the work.

Once maintenance is complete, the city advises residents to run cold water from the tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap—for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.

Drivers are also asked to yield to oncoming traffic in the work area on Cameron Street North during the maintenance, the city said.
