Timmins plans water maintenance on Cameron Street North March 4
The City of Timmins is scheduled to carry out water infrastructure maintenance on Cameron Street North from Pearl Avenue to the end of the road on March 4, with work planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The city says people in the affected area may notice changes to their tap water during the work, including temporarily low water pressure or brown or rust-coloured water.
In its public notice, the city advised homeowners and businesses not to drink discoloured water or use it to wash laundry. The city also said the discoloured water is not harmful to health, but can stain clothing.
If discoloured water occurs during the maintenance window, the city’s notice advises residents to turn off their tap for 10 to 20 minutes to allow crews to finish the work.
After the work is completed, the city advised turning on the cold-water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry-tub tap—and running it for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.
For drivers, the city asked motorists to yield to oncoming traffic along this section of Cameron Street North while crews are working.
