Timmins Police Conclude December 2024 Festive RIDE Program

The Timmins Police Service has completed its Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program for December 2024. During this initiative, officers checked 670 vehicles.

The program involved 181 Approved Screening Device demands. As a result, five drivers received three-day suspensions for having a Blood Alcohol Concentration over 50 mg per 100 ml of blood. Additionally, two charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act.

Further enforcement actions included two charges under the Cannabis Control Act, with cannabis being seized. One individual was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs.

Constable Watson of the Timmins Police Service noted the numbers compared to previous years, attributing this to increased awareness and enforcement efforts. "Impaired driving is a preventable choice," Watson stated, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to road safety.

The Timmins Police Service continues to focus on initiatives that enhance public safety on the roads, especially during high-traffic periods like the holiday season.
