Timmins police identify remains found off Riverside Drive as missing man Marc Renaud

Timmins police have confirmed that human remains found in a wooded area off Riverside Drive on Sept. 22, 2025, are those of Marc Renaud, who was reported missing on Feb. 19, 2024. Police said no foul play is suspected and the investigation has been closed.

The confirmation identifies remains that were discovered months after Renaud was reported missing, and it explains the steps police say were used to make the identification.

Police received a call at about 1:21 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2025, reporting the discovery of human remains in a wooded area off Riverside Drive.

Officers attended and began an investigation in coordination with the coroner’s office, a forensic anthropologist and the Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit, according to the Timmins Police Service.

After a forensic examination and DNA analysis by a forensic anthropologist, police confirmed the remains were Renaud’s.

Renaud’s next of kin has been notified, police said.

The Timmins Police Service released the update on its website on Jan. 28.
