Timmins police identify victim in July 31 homicide on Balsam Street North

Timmins police have identified the victim in a homicide reported on Balsam Street North in the early morning of July 31, 2026, as Jason Oliver Bartley, 31, of the Toronto area.

The identification is part of an ongoing investigation, and police are asking anyone with information who has not yet spoken with investigators to come forward.

In an update posted Aug. 4, the Timmins Police Service said Bartley’s next of kin has been notified and that the investigation remains “active and ongoing.”

The police update is posted on a webpage headlined “Balsam Street South,” but the body of the update states the homicide occurred on Balsam Street North.

Police said anyone with information related to the investigation who has not yet spoken with police is being asked to contact the Timmins Police Service Criminal Investigations Division.
