Timmins project to receive $70,000 in federal climate-adaptation funding, backgrounder says

A federal backgrounder says the City of Timmins will receive $70,000 for a project called “Resilient Assets – Integrating Climate Adaptation Into Timmins' Asset Management Framework,” announced Jan. 15, 2026 by Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

The funding is part of a national package of about $7.1 million for 80 municipal projects across Canada through the Green Municipal Fund’s Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation initiative.

According to the backgrounder, the 80 projects will support work such as climate adaptation plans, climate-focused asset management strategies, and community-wide climate risk assessments.

The Timmins project is listed in the “Plans” section of the funding list, with the amount shown as $70,000.

The backgrounder says the projects were selected following a call for applications launched in June 2024.

Environment and Climate Change Canada posted the backgrounder online as part of the Jan. 15 announcement.
