Timmins reports raw wastewater overflow at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #3 on April 18
A raw wastewater overflow was reported at the City of Timmins’ Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #3 at 174 Essa Ave., starting at 12:54 p.m. on April 18, 2026, according to a notice from the city’s Environmental Services Department.
The notice provides limited details about the incident, listing the end date, end time and the volume of wastewater bypassed as “TBD.”
In the city’s overflow report, the end date, end time and “volume by-passed” were all listed as “TBD.”
The city did not provide a cause for the April 18 overflow.
The notice said bypasses or overflows can occur when treatment processes are overwhelmed and are often associated with heavy rainfall or snowmelt. It also said that during a bypass or overflow, partially treated wastewater can be diverted away from a treatment process to prevent backups, overflows or damage to the system.
The city asked residents to conserve water during rain storms by delaying or limiting what it called unnecessary usage, including laundry, long showers and running dishwashers. The notice also told residents not to flush wipes down toilets.
