Timmins reports raw wastewater overflow at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station No. 2 on Aug. 23
The City of Timmins reported a raw wastewater overflow at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station No. 2 at 57 Evans St. on Aug. 23, 2026. According to the city’s overflow report, the bypass ran from 12:20 p.m. to 11:48 p.m., with an estimated 1,215.69 cubic metres of wastewater bypassed.
Overflows can affect nearby waterways and are part of the city’s public reporting on wastewater system incidents.
The overflow report was posted on the City of Timmins website on Aug. 24.
In the same notice, the city said municipal wastewater is mostly water (99%), including stormwater as well as flows from homes and businesses. The city also said bypasses or overflows can occur when a treatment plant or process is overwhelmed, often during heavy rainfall or snowmelt, and that partially treated wastewater may be diverted to help prevent backups or damage to the system.
The city did not provide a cause for the Aug. 23 overflow in the posted report.
