Timmins reports Sept. 1 overflow at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #2 on Evans Street

The City of Timmins reported a raw wastewater overflow at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #2 at 57 Evans St. on Sept. 1, 2026. The city said the overflow ran from 8:36 a.m. to 8:49 a.m., with 65.02 m³ bypassed.

The notice outlines what residents may want to know about the event, including the location, timing and volume, and provides background on how bypasses and overflows can happen.

In its posting, the city said municipal wastewater consists of 99% water from stormwater and from homes and businesses, including water from washing and flushing.

The city said a bypass or overflow can occur when a treatment plant or treatment process is overwhelmed, often during heavy rainfall or snowmelt.

During a bypass or overflow, the city said partially treated wastewater is diverted away from a treatment process to prevent backups, overflows or damage to the system.

The City of Timmins posted the overflow report on its website at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, 2026.
