Timmins schedules April 22 public meeting on Highway 101 East rezoning tied to proposed shopping centre

Timmins city council will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, about a proposed zoning by-law amendment for land along Highway 101 East in Whitney Township. The meeting is set for 10 a.m. in council chambers at Timmins City Hall, 220 Algonquin Blvd. East.

The meeting is being held under Section 34 of Ontario’s Planning Act as part of the process for considering changes to the property’s zoning.

According to the public notice, the applicant is Collex Ltd. (Jamie Clarke).

If council approves the amendment, the land would be rezoned from Residential First Density with Special Provision 6.121 (NA-R1 SP6.121) and Residential First Density Flood Fringe (NA-R1-f) to Highway Commercial (EA-CH) and Hazard Lands (RD-HAZ).

The zoning change would allow an approximate 464.52-square-metre neighbourhood shopping centre, the notice states. The shopping centre would be located on the part of the property proposed to be rezoned Highway Commercial (EA-CH).

The city lists the location as Concession 4, South Part of Lot 10 in Whitney Township, along Highway 101 East.
