Timmins schedules April 22 watermain break repair in Schumacher; some residents may see discoloured water
Some homes and businesses in Schumacher may have low water pressure, brief water interruptions, or brown or rust-coloured water on April 22 as the City of Timmins repairs a watermain break from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The city said residents in the notification area may see discoloured water during the repair and should avoid drinking it or using it for laundry.
According to the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department, the notification area includes Croatia Avenue between Ponderosa Street and Claimpost Trail, and Brundy Avenue between Claimpost Trail and Delost Avenue.
The city called the repair emergency work.
The city said discoloured water is not harmful to health but may stain laundry.
If discoloured water occurs, the city said residents should turn off their tap for 10 to 20 minutes.
Once the work is completed, the city said residents should turn on the cold water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap—and let it run for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.
