Timmins schedules March 24 water service disruption on Crescent Avenue in Timmins North
Water service disruptions were scheduled Tuesday, March 24, on Crescent Avenue in Timmins North between MacLean Drive and Waterloo, as the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department carried out water infrastructure maintenance. The city set the disruption window for 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The city said people in the affected stretch could see temporary impacts during the work, including low water pressure, a loss of water, or brown or rust-coloured water.
In its notice, the City of Timmins advised residents not to drink discoloured water or use it for laundry. The city said the discolouration is not harmful to health, but it can stain clothing.
If brown or rust-coloured water appears, the city said residents should stop running the water and leave the tap off for 10 to 20 minutes while crews finish the work.
After the work is completed, the city said residents should run the cold-water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry-tub tap—for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.
The Environmental Services Department notice described the work as “scheduled” maintenance but also referred to it as “emergency work” in its closing line.
