Timmins schedules School Road watermain test shutdown Aug. 5-6

Residents and businesses on School Road in Timmins between Leonard Avenue and Riverside Drive will experience a loss of water pressure and may see discoloured water during a scheduled watermain test shutdown from 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, to 1 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, the City of Timmins says.

The three-hour overnight shutdown is tied to the Connecting Link watermain re-lining project. The city says people in the affected section of School Road may notice lower water pressure and coloured water during the maintenance window.

In its notice, the city said properties in the area may experience brown or rust-coloured water.

The city recommended that residents not drink discoloured water or wash laundry with it. The city also said the discoloured water is not harmful to health, but can stain laundry.

If discoloured water occurs, the city advised residents to run the COLD water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry-tub tap—for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.

The disruption was issued by the City of Timmins’ Environmental Services and Public Utilities Department.
