Timmins Seeks Public Input on Tisdale Reservoir Project

The City of Timmins has initiated a public consultation process for the Tisdale Reservoir Project. This project aims to determine a suitable location for a new water storage reservoir near South Porcupine. The current reservoir, located approximately 4 km south of South Porcupine, is supplied by watermains from the Timmins Water Filtration Plant.

The city is collaborating with WSP Canada Inc. to address issues related to aging infrastructure, the reservoir's remote location, and nearby mining hazards. The new reservoir is expected to enhance the city's water supply and support future growth.

Phase 1 of the project, which included background work and field studies, has been completed. The project is now in Phase 2, focusing on community input to identify a replacement for the Tisdale Reservoir. A virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) has been set up to provide details about the study process and the five site options considered. Community feedback on the preliminary site recommendation will be collected through a survey available until November 14, 2024.

Residents can access the virtual PIC and provide feedback via the city's website.
