Timmins sets Canada Day events at Gillies Lake for July 1, fireworks scheduled for 9:45 p.m.

Timmins’ Canada Day celebration is scheduled for July 1 at Gillies Lake, with activities beginning at 2 p.m., live local music starting at 4 p.m., and fireworks planned for 9:45 p.m., just after sunset.

The City of Timmins’ event notice includes several traffic and parking details that may affect people driving to the lakefront, including free meter parking that day, designated accessible parking, and a temporary lot closure tied to the fireworks setup.

The city says the celebration will include inflatable attractions from Amaze N’ Fun, local artisan and vendor booths, and face painting.

Food and water are also planned. The city says McIntyre Catering will provide free hamburgers, hotdogs, a vegetarian option, and bottled water, while supplies last.

On July 1, free on-street parking will be available at all municipal meters, along with free parking in city lots listed as the Spruce N. Lot, Algonquin Lot, Third Ave. Lot, Pine S. Lot, Library Lot, and Coalition Lot (Timmins Transit).

The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority parking lot will be reserved for accessible parking and pick-up/drop-off, with a limited number of spaces available.

The parking lot off Highway 655 will be closed from 6 a.m. on June 30 through July 1 for fireworks set-up and the display. Parking is prohibited along Lakeshore Road, the city said.
