Timmins sets Oct. 26, 2026 municipal election; nominations open May 1
Timmins’ 2026 municipal election is scheduled for Oct. 26, 2026, and the nomination period for candidates for mayor, councillor or school board trustee will run from May 1 to Aug. 21, the City of Timmins says.
The nomination window sets the period when prospective candidates can submit the paperwork and fees required to run in the fall election.
According to the city’s notice, nomination packages will be available starting May 1 at Service Timmins at City Hall.
The city said nominations close Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.
Candidates must pay a filing fee of $200 for mayor or $100 for members of council and school board trustees, the city said. A $206 deposit is also required under City of Timmins User Fee By-law No. 2025-9260.
For voters, the city said residents can use Elections Ontario’s online voter registration service to confirm they are on the municipal voters’ list.
Details about the municipal election are available at timmins.ca/elections, including Ontario’s 2026 voters’ and candidates’ guides, according to the city.
