Timmins to close parts of Theriault Boulevard and Jubilee Avenue on Jan. 26 for emergency watermain valve work
Theriault Boulevard in Timmins North will be closed between Vimy Avenue and Airport Road on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, as the City of Timmins carries out an emergency watermain valve replacement. Jubilee Avenue will also be closed between University Street and Westmount Boulevard, with the city scheduling the work from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The City of Timmins says nearby homeowners and businesses may see temporary water-service impacts during the repair, including short-term loss of water pressure and brown or rust-coloured tap water.
According to the city’s Environmental Services Department, local traffic will still be able to reach the Sportsplex and nearby schools from Vimy Avenue during the Theriault Boulevard closure.
The city said the brown or rust-coloured water is not harmful to health but can stain laundry, and advised residents not to drink it or use it for washing clothes.
If discoloured water occurs, the city advised residents to stop running their tap water for 10 to 20 minutes to allow crews to finish work.
After the repair is completed, the city advised turning on the cold-water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap—and running it for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
The city noted the road closures may extend beyond the estimated 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. window.
