Timmins to do water maintenance on Crescent Avenue March 20; outages and discoloured water possible

The City of Timmins says it will carry out scheduled water infrastructure maintenance on Crescent Avenue in Timmins North, from MacLean Drive to Waterloo, on March 20, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The city says nearby homes and businesses may have short-term water outages, low water pressure, or brown or rust-coloured water during the work.

The notice affects customers on that section of Crescent Avenue because the city says tap water may be temporarily discoloured during the maintenance window, and it issued handling instructions if that happens.

If water turns brown or rust-coloured, the city recommends that residents do not drink it and do not wash laundry with it. The city also says the discoloured water is not harmful to health, but can stain clothing.

If discoloured water occurs during the work, the city advises residents to turn off their tap for 10–20 minutes.

After the maintenance is completed, the city advises turning on the cold-water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry-tub tap—and letting it run for about 15–20 minutes, or until the water returns to normal colour.

The notice was posted by the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department.
