Timmins to lower flags April 28 for National Day of Mourning

The City of Timmins will lower flags at Timmins City Hall and other municipal buildings to half-mast on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, to mark Canada’s National Day of Mourning, also known as Workers’ Day of Mourning.

The National Day of Mourning is observed in memory of people who have died in workplace tragedies and to recognize the impact of work-related injury and illness.

The city said the half-masting will include City Hall and other municipal buildings, but it did not specify which additional locations will be included. The notice was posted on the City of Timmins website on April 27.
