Timmins to lower flags Dec. 6 for National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Timmins will lower flags to half-mast at all municipally owned facilities from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

The observance is dedicated to remembering people who have experienced gender-based violence and those whose lives were taken.

The city posted the notice on its website on Dec. 5. “This day is dedicated to remembering those who have experienced gender-based violence, and those whose lives have been tragically taken by it,” the notice states.

The notice also references the city’s Community Safety and Well-Being Plan and says its work includes acknowledging the impact of violence, supporting survivors, and strengthening collaborative prevention strategies.
