Timmins to Receive $661,115 for New Transit Bus
The Ontario government has announced that Timmins will receive $661,115 from the annual Gas Tax funding. According to Timmins Transit, the funds will be used to purchase a new bus.
Natalie Moore, Director of Finance, stated that the Gas Tax funding is received annually and is currently prioritized for upgrading infrastructure. Moore mentioned that new equipment aims to improve service reliability and performance.
During recent budget discussions, the Timmins City Council requested a transit rationalization process and route review. Timmins Transit is addressing the impacts of the pandemic and low ridership by freezing user fees to offset service changes.
Timmins Transit plans to purchase the new bus by the end of the year.
