Timmins Transit to Hold Public Information Session on On-Demand Service

Timmins Transit will hold a public information session on July 25, 2024, to discuss the upcoming On-Demand service for Porcupine and South Porcupine. The session will take place at the Northern College Gymnasium, located at 4715 Highway 101 East, South Porcupine. Residents can drop in between 11 AM to 1 PM or 6 PM to 8 PM.

The On-Demand service is set to begin on August 1, 2024, and aims to expand service coverage in the east end of the city. This microtransit pilot project will offer flexible, shared-ride transportation that can be booked through the Timmins Transit On-Demand mobile app, web portal, or by calling Timmins Transit.

The introduction of the On-Demand service will result in changes to the current fixed-route service in Porcupine and South Porcupine. Attendees at the information session will have the opportunity to see the expanded route map, watch demonstrations on how to use the Timmins Transit On-Demand app, and learn more about the microtransit service.
