Timmins Transit to offer free rides on Earth Day, April 22, 2026

Timmins Transit will be free to ride on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, for Earth Day, according to a notice posted by the City of Timmins.

For local riders, the one-day change means no fare will be required on Timmins Transit buses that day.

The city said the free rides are meant to encourage people to use public transit on Earth Day.

In the same notice, the city said buses produce “far fewer” greenhouse-gas emissions per passenger than private cars and trucks. The city also said public transportation can lower energy consumption and help conserve fuel, reducing demand for fossil fuels.

The notice added that fewer vehicles on the road can lower levels of air pollutants.

The city’s post did not mention any route or schedule changes for April 22.
