Timmins water service disruption set for College Street during emergency watermain repair Feb. 24

Water service was scheduled to be disrupted on College Street in Timmins between Airport Road and Westmount Boulevard on Feb. 24, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., as city crews worked to repair an emergency watermain break.

The disruption could affect residents and businesses in Timmins’ north area, with the city warning of possible short-term water shutoffs, low water pressure, and brown or rust-coloured water during the work.

Homeowners and businesses in the area may experience intermittent loss of water and pressure while repairs are underway, the City of Timmins said.

The city advised residents not to drink discoloured water or use it to wash laundry. The city said discoloured water is not harmful to health but can stain laundry.

If the water turns brown or rust-coloured, the city advised turning off the tap for 10 to 20 minutes.

After repairs are completed, the city advised running cold water from the tap closest to the source (often a laundry-tub tap) for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.
