Town of Cochrane Seeks Receptionist for Finance Department

The Town of Cochrane is accepting applications for a full-time receptionist in the Finance Department. Applications are due by Friday, September 26, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., according to the official job posting.

The position is based in Cochrane, Ontario, with working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, for a 35-hour workweek. The pay rate is $28.87 per hour. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits plan and participation in the OMERS defined benefit pension plan, as listed in the posting.

According to the job announcement, the receptionist serves as a primary point of contact for residents and the public. Duties include welcoming and directing visitors, responding to inquiries in person, by phone, or by email, and supporting telephone system operations. The role also involves balancing cash, operating, maintaining, and reconciling the debit machine, and processing payments for water, wastewater, property taxes, and accounts receivable. The receptionist issues receipts and related documentation for these transactions.

Other responsibilities include coordinating the shipping, receiving, and distribution of mail, courier packages, and faxes. The position assists with entering approved invoices into the accounting system (Vadim iCity) and with transit ticket verification, issuance, and reconciliation. Additional tasks are filing, data entry, maintaining records of transactions and interactions, and running routine errands such as trips to the bank or post office. The successful candidate may be assigned additional related duties by their immediate supervisor.

The minimum qualifications listed are post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants are required to have at least two years of experience in an administrative or customer service role, preferably within municipal government. The posting specifies proficiency with computer applications, including iCity, Adobe, and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook). A valid Ontario class G driver's license and access to a vehicle are also required.
