WAHA notice posts closure dates for Kingston Charter Services and Medical Transportation Office
Kingston Charter Services, which handles medical travel booked through the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA), will close Dec. 23, 2024, and reopen Jan. 6, 2025, according to a notice posted on WAHA’s website.
The closure affects how some patients in WAHA-served communities may travel for medical appointments over the dates listed in the notice, including flights arranged through the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program.
During the closure period, NIHB will use limited commercial flights, depending on seat availability, the notice says.
The notice also lists closures for WAHA’s Medical Transportation Office. The office will be closed Dec. 25 and 26, 2024, and Jan. 1, 2025.
The same notice outlines after-hours emergency medical transportation coverage as running from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday to Friday, and 24 hours a day on weekends and statutory holidays.
The notice is dated Feb. 19, 2026, and says it was last updated Dec. 17, 2024. The notice does not say why Kingston Charter Services is closing on the dates listed.
