WAHA says Lynne Innes received King Charles III Coronation Medal on Feb. 19
Lynne Innes, president and CEO of the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority, received a King Charles III Coronation Medal on Feb. 19, 2026, the health authority said. WAHA said Ontario Health Minister Sylvia Jones presented the medal.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal honours Canadians who have made significant contributions to their communities. WAHA provides health services along the western James Bay and Hudson Bay coasts, including in Moosonee and Moose Factory.
WAHA said Innes was recognized for her leadership and for securing funding for its redevelopment project.
The redevelopment project includes a new regional hospital and health campus in Moosonee, as well as an Elder Care Lodge and an ambulatory care centre in Moose Factory, WAHA said.
WAHA said Innes is a member of Moose Cree First Nation.
WAHA said that under Innes’ leadership it introduced what it described as the region’s first CT scan and a portable MRI, and expanded access to specialists such as cardiologists and optometrists.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, WAHA said Innes led the delivery of more than 200 COVID-19 vaccine clinics in remote First Nations communities.
