World Tuberculosis Day Emphasizes Continued Global Efforts

March 24: Observing World Tuberculosis Day

In recognition of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24th, the global community is urged to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and its impact. This day marks the anniversary of Dr. Robert Koch’s announcement in 1882 of the discovery of the bacterium that causes TB.

With an estimated 4,000 deaths daily due to TB, efforts to combat this disease remain critical. World TB Day serves as a call for increased awareness of the disease's challenges and stresses collective action in the fight against TB. This includes initiatives supporting the goal of ending the epidemic by 2030.

Local organizations across the Northeast are encouraged to take part in global efforts, promoting education and preventive measures against tuberculosis.
