3rd Avenue Roundabout Closure in Cochrane Scheduled for September 19–24

The 3rd Avenue roundabout in Cochrane will be closed to all traffic starting Friday, September 19, 2025, for road repairs and replacement of Ontario Northland Railway tracks, according to a notice from the Town of Cochrane. The full closure is planned until Wednesday, September 24, 2025. During this closure, traffic will be detoured onto Western Avenue and 5th Street.

The scheduled work involves pulverizing and paving the roundabout, as well as excavation to fix issues at the railway tracks. The Ontario Northland Railway will replace the tracks at the same time as road repairs.

Prior to the full closure, one lane in the roundabout will remain closed with construction flaggers directing traffic until Thursday, September 18, 2025. Throughout the complete closure period, no vehicles will be able to cross the railway tracks. The roundabout is expected to reopen and regular traffic patterns to resume after the work is finished.
