Black River-Matheson seeks residents for public library board
Black River-Matheson is inviting residents to apply to serve on its public library board. Applications close November 20.
The board is responsible for managing the public library under the township’s library board bylaw. The bylaw requires one municipal councillor and at least four members of the public.
Under the bylaw, the board must meet at least once a month from January through June and September through December. It may also hold additional meetings as needed.
Board members’ terms match the term of municipal council, and members remain in office until their successors are appointed, according to the bylaw.
The bylaw also requires council to appoint replacements when vacancies arise, with replacement members serving the remainder of the term.
