Black River-Matheson to Begin Calcium Application on Municipal Roads June 16

The Township of Black River-Matheson will begin applying calcium to municipal roads on Monday, June 16, 2025, according to a public notice issued on June 3.

According to the notice, the calcium application is intended to stabilize gravel road surfaces and reduce airborne dust for the safety and comfort of road users and nearby residents.

The Township's notice advises drivers to use caution when driving near areas where calcium is being applied and to avoid those sections of road if possible. The notice does not specify which municipal roads will be treated first or provide an expected timeline for the completion of the work.
