CFIA posts recall notice for certain no name chopped walnuts over possible shell fragments

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) posted a recall notice on Sept. 15 for certain “no name” chopped walnuts because of possible shell fragments. The notice lists a recall date of Sept. 4 and names Loblaws Inc. as the recalling firm.

For Northeast Ontario residents, the CFIA notice lists distribution in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan; Ontario is not listed.

According to the CFIA, the affected product is “no name” chopped walnuts sold in two package sizes: 400 g (UPC 0 60383 01845 0) and 100 g (UPC 0 60383 64384 3). Affected packages are identified by matching the UPC and best-before date and lot information on the package to the codes listed in the CFIA notice.

The CFIA list includes these best-before dates for the 400 g package: 2027 JA 28, 2027 FE 13, 2027 MR 03, 2027 MR 05, 2027 MR 22, 2027 AP 06 and 2027 JL 24.

For the 100 g package, the CFIA list includes best-before dates 2027 JA 30, 2027 MR 01, 2027 MR 17 and 2027 MR 24.

In the CFIA posting, the lot code shown with each affected item includes a time field formatted as “HH:MM.”

The notice is classified as a Class 2 recall and carries identification number RA-82629. The CFIA posting was last updated Sept. 15.
