CFIA recalls Alasko frozen whole raspberries over possible norovirus contamination

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a food recall warning on Sept. 15, 2026, for Alasko brand frozen whole raspberries because of possible norovirus contamination. The products were distributed in Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

Norovirus can cause sudden vomiting and diarrhea, and the CFIA says illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled raspberries. The warning applies to consumers as well as hotels, restaurants and institutions that may have the product.

CFIA is advising consumers and businesses not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled products. CFIA said the products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

The recalled products are:

• Alasko Whole Raspberries (frozen), 1 kg (UPC 6 95058 00205 4), codes PO#138602, LOT# SY25314, BB: 2027-NO-10
• Alasko IQF Whole Raspberries, 5 kg (5 x 1 kg) (UPC 1 069505 800205 1), codes #Lot: SY25314, P.O: 138602, BB: 2027-NO-10

CFIA said the recall was triggered by findings during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.

CFIA said norovirus symptoms usually begin within 24 to 48 hours, but can start as early as 12 hours after exposure. Symptoms listed by CFIA include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach cramps, and may also include low-grade fever, headache, chills, muscle aches and fatigue.

CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to additional recalls. CFIA said it is verifying that industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace.

The recall is classified as Class 1 and has identification number RA-82631. The recalling firm is New Alasko L.P.
