CFIA Recalls Captain’s Choice Frozen Young Coconut Meat for Salmonella Risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled Captain’s Choice brand frozen Young Coconut Meat due to possible Salmonella contamination. The affected product is packaged in 454-gram (1 lb) bags with UPC 0 55722 10810 8 and has a best before date of 2024 AU 15.

According to the CFIA, this product was sold nationally, including in Ontario and the Northeast. Consumers are instructed by the CFIA not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled coconut meat.

The CFIA stated that this recall was triggered by its own test results. As of the recall announcement, no illnesses had been reported.

The CFIA has advised consumers to check their homes for the product and either throw it out or return it to the place of purchase. If further information becomes available, the CFIA will update the recall notice.
