CFIA recalls Handfuel Raspberry Pistachio Clusters in Ontario over Salmonella risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 2 food recall on Sept. 30 for Handfuel brand Raspberry Pistachio Clusters sold in Ontario due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recall is linked to an ongoing foodborne illness outbreak under investigation.

The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating related human illnesses. CFIA warns that contaminated food may not look or smell spoiled, and older adults, young children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems face higher risk of serious infection.

The recall covers the following product, as listed by CFIA:

  • Brand: Handfuel
  • Product: Raspberry Pistachio Clusters
  • Size: 120 g
  • UPC: 6 28506 83526 5
  • Best-before dates: BB 06/11/2026; BB 06/18/2026
  • Distribution: Ontario

CFIA advises consumers not to consume, serve, use, sell or distribute the product, and to throw it out or return it to the place of purchase.

Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis, CFIA says.

The recalling firm is Stephano Group Limited. A CFIA food safety investigation is ongoing and may lead to additional recalls. The agency is verifying that industry is removing the product from the marketplace.

The recall notice was published Sept. 30 under identification number RA-78155 on the CFIA website.
