CFIA Recalls Vicente Marino Anchovy Fillets in Olive Oil Due to Histamine

A recall was issued for Vicente Marino brand Anchovy Fillets in Olive Oil on July 3, 2025, due to the presence of histamine, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The affected products are 80 g and 42 g packages with UPC 80268215, lot number 24171, and an expiration date of December 2025.

The CFIA reports that the recalled fillets were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and possibly other provinces and territories. The agency notes that there have been reported reactions associated with consumption of the product.

According to the CFIA, the recall was triggered by the recalling firm, Pcan Inc., operating as Cucina Fine Foods. The recall is classified as Class 2 by the agency. The CFIA states it is conducting a food safety investigation and verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace. The agency also notes that further recalls may occur if necessary.
