The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Sunday, March 22, warning that overnight wind chill values are expected to reach -24 and that there is a risk of frostbite and cold injury.
The alert may affect people who need to be outside for extended periods or who do not have adequate shelter during the night.
According to the city’s notice, people requiring emergency shelter are being directed to 316 Spruce St. S. in Timmins for assistance.
The city posted the alert at 8:55 a.m. Sunday.
