Cochrane sets Oct. 8 hearing on 292 Tenth Street setback variance
Cochrane’s Committee of Adjustment will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at Town Hall, 171 Fourth Avenue. According to a town notice dated Sept. 23, the hearing concerns a minor variance for 292 Tenth Street to permit a garbage enclosure with a reduced front yard setback.
The notice states any person may make a submission in support or opposition, or ask questions about the proposal. Those who wish to participate electronically are asked to register by Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, and written submissions are recommended.
The application is filed as A03‑2025. The owner is listed as CGV Developments, and the request is made under Section 45 of the Planning Act and the Town of Cochrane Zoning By‑law 968‑2013, as amended, the notice says.
The notice specifies a front yard setback of 0.55 metres (1.80 feet), where 6 metres (19.69 feet) is required.
Written submissions may be delivered by email, regular mail, or in person at Town Hall, 171 Fourth Avenue, the notice states. The notice asks that written submissions include the sender’s name, address and the application number.
Anyone who wants to be notified of the Committee’s decision must request notification in writing, according to the notice. The notice also states the hearing may proceed without those who do not participate and, except as otherwise provided in the Planning Act, they will not be entitled to further notice.
According to the notice, only the applicant, the Minister, a specified person (utilities and transportation companies), or a public body may appeal a decision to the Ontario Land Tribunal. The notice further states the Tribunal may dismiss an appeal by a specified person or public body if they did not make written submissions to the Committee before the decision.
