Cochrane Water Treatment Plant Maintenance to Affect Water Hardness

Infrastructure Services has announced that the lime system at the Cochrane Water Treatment Plant will undergo maintenance from June 24 to June 30, 2024. This maintenance may result in harder water being supplied to residents during this period. The water remains safe for consumption despite the increased hardness.

Hard water, caused by naturally occurring minerals, does not pose a health risk but can cause spots on glasses and fixtures. To minimize spotting, residents are advised to hand wash dishes or towel dry them immediately after the dishwasher rinse cycle. For existing spots on glasses, soaking them in white vinegar for 5 to 10 minutes is recommended.
